The aftermath of my post was something I really didn't expect. Receiving calls and emails from people across the nation was weird, but definitely cool. I saw a few comments posted about why I am wrong or something about being a failure, which of course is expected.
My intention for the post was to pay tribute to my parents and their generation of jewelry business owners. It's not about being a failure, as I explained our future plans. I wanted to bring attention to my generation and make everyone see the other side.
I spoke to so many other business owners who called and emailed to thank me, so I know we are not alone. Every business has to change with the consumer trends in order to stay successful. You have to know who your customers are and cater accordingly.
